This month we return to the classics, Manzanos Reserva.
First of all, what is a Reserva wine? The word Reserva in DOCa Rioja corresponds to highly selected wines with a minimum aging between oak barrels and bottles for three years.
Our Manzanos Reserva wine is an elaboration where our vineyards and our barrels share the leading role. This wine is the result of the union of four of our best estates: “La Muga” and “Los Poyatos”, vineyards of the Tempranillo variety that are over 40 years old. “Los Molinos”, a vineyard of the Graciano variety, located in San Adrián and “Los Quiñones”, one of our oldest Garnacha estates. In addition, in the winery, it is aged for 2 years in French and American oak barrels and aged for at least one year in the bottle.
Wine of the Month: Manzanos Reserva
Manzanos Reserva is a wine where our best terroir and our best oak barrels share the limelight.
With an intense garnet color with terracotta reflections, its aromas on the nose are marked by tones of ripe red and black fruit together with toasted and spicy aromas due to its long aging in barrels. On the palate it is a structured and complex wine, with balanced acidity and a long finish of stewed fruit and toasted tones.
With an intense red color, its aromas on the nose are marked by tones of ripe red and black fruit with notes of undergrowth and spicy and toasted nuances due to its aging in barrels. On the palate it is an elegant and round wine with velvety tannins.
Manzanos Reserva Pairing:
We have in presence a wine specially designed for our best tables. First of all, we propose a vegetable stew. If you want to enjoy meat, nothing better than a long-aged ribeye. And if you are a cheese lover, we suggest an Idiazábal cheese with walnuts and quince.
