A demanding year, but with great quality potential<\/h2>\n

As the son of a farmer, I grew up hearing my mother say that the two key seasons for good agricultural productivity are autumn and spring. This year, nature followed that pattern, but also reminded us that, in the countryside, excess is never a good ally.<\/p>\n

Last autumn was especially rainy, which complicated the end of the harvest. Winter remained within the average, but spring has been the rainiest I can remember. And although, in theory, this should herald a great year, the truth is that the excess rainfall has posed a significant challenge for both cereals and vineyards.<\/p>\n

These figures, combined with slightly earlier budding than usual, have led to very vigorous vegetative growth. The vine has produced a large leaf mass, ideal for ripening the grapes, but also more susceptible to disease if not managed precisely.<\/p>\n

The unwanted protagonist of the year: downy mildew<\/h3>\n

High humidity conditions and moderate temperatures have favored the appearance of downy mildew, the most feared fungus by winegrowers this season.<\/p>\n

Field management has been intense: we\u2019ve worked thoroughly on the vegetation to keep the grapes as airy as possible and thus ensure the effectiveness of treatments.<\/p>\n

Vegetative cycle and harvest forecast<\/h3>\n

Budding, especially in Chardonnay, was somewhat early, but the rest of the cycle has developed as usual. July has been cooler than normal, which has favored the vine\u2019s work thanks to the accumulated water reserves.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve also observed lower bud fertility, resulting in fewer grape clusters per vine, and of smaller size.<\/p>\n

The combination of cool weather, water reserves, and lower fruit load could shorten the ripening period and slightly bring forward the start of the harvest.<\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/h3>\n

This is a challenging year, marked by downy mildew pressure, high rainfall, and lower natural fertility. However, if fieldwork has been consistent and rigorous \u2014as it has been at Bodegas Manzanos\u2014 we can expect a smaller harvest, but of extraordinary quality.<\/p>\n

Un a\u00f1o exigente, pero con potencial de gran calidad<\/h2>\r\n

Como hijo de agricultor, he crecido escuchando a mi madre decir que las dos estaciones clave para una buena productividad agr\u00edcola son el oto\u00f1o y la primavera. Este a\u00f1o, la naturaleza ha cumplido ese patr\u00f3n, pero tambi\u00e9n nos ha recordado que, en el campo, los excesos nunca son buenos aliados.<\/p>\r\n

El invierno se mantuvo dentro de la media, pero la primavera ha sido la m\u00e1s lluviosa que recuerdo. Y aunque, en teor\u00eda, esto deber\u00eda augurar un gran a\u00f1o, lo cierto es que el exceso de precipitaciones ha supuesto un reto importante tanto para el cereal como para la vi\u00f1a.\r\n\r\n\"Vi\u00f1edo\r\n\r\nPluviometr\u00eda del ciclo: Marzo: 85 l\/m\u00b2, Abril: 70 l\/m\u00b2, Mayo: 36 l\/m\u00b2, Junio: 80 l\/m\u00b2.\r\n\r\nEstas cifras, unidas a una brotaci\u00f3n algo m\u00e1s temprana de lo habitual, han provocado un desarrollo vegetativo muy vigoroso. La vi\u00f1a ha generado una gran masa foliar, ideal para madurar la uva, pero tambi\u00e9n m\u00e1s propensa a enfermedades si no se maneja con precisi\u00f3n.\r\n\r\n\r\n

El protagonista indeseado del a\u00f1o: el mildiu<\/h3>\r\nLas condiciones de alta humedad y temperaturas medias han favorecido la aparici\u00f3n del mildiu, el hongo m\u00e1s temido por los viticultores esta campa\u00f1a.\r\n\r\nLa gesti\u00f3n en campo ha sido intensa: hemos trabajado a fondo la vegetaci\u00f3n para mantener la uva lo m\u00e1s aireada posible y asegurar as\u00ed la eficacia de los tratamientos.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ciclo vegetativo y previsi\u00f3n de vendimia<\/h3>\r\nLa brotaci\u00f3n, especialmente en chardonnay, fue algo adelantada, pero el resto del ciclo se ha desarrollado dentro de lo habitual. Julio ha sido m\u00e1s fresco de lo normal, lo que ha favorecido el trabajo de la planta gracias a las reservas h\u00eddricas acumuladas.\r\n\r\n\"Nuevos\r\n\r\n\r\n
\"Julio ha sido m\u00e1s fresco de lo normal, lo que ha favorecido el trabajo de la planta gracias a las reservas h\u00eddricas acumuladas.\"<\/blockquote>\r\nTambi\u00e9n hemos observado una fertilidad m\u00e1s baja en las yemas, lo que se traduce en menos racimos por cepa y, adem\u00e1s, de menor tama\u00f1o.\r\n\r\nLa combinaci\u00f3n de clima fresco, reservas de agua y menor carga de fruto podr\u00eda acortar el periodo de maduraci\u00f3n y adelantar ligeramente el inicio de la vendimia.\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n

Conclusi\u00f3n:<\/h3>\r\nEstamos ante un a\u00f1o complicado, marcado por la presi\u00f3n del mildiu, la elevada pluviometr\u00eda y una menor fertilidad natural.
